Google Discover once again proves that editorial visibility moves in very short windows. If the first half of June had left X.com as the dominant signal and YouTube recovering ground, the reading of the full month shifts the axis: in the second half, www.elespanol.com clearly takes the lead, while X.com and YouTube lose a good part of their previous momentum.

This report updates the previous analysis of the first half of the month with a direct comparison between June 1–15 and June 16–30, 2026. The metric remains the daily share weighted by position, where appearances in top positions carry more weight.

Leadership shifts from conversation to generalist media

The most important change is the rise of www.elespanol.com, which goes up from 5.38% to 8.98%. The improvement is +3.60 p.p., enough to position it as the domain with the highest weighted share of the second half of the month.

It is not an isolated movement. El Mundo, El Confidencial, OKDiario, 20 Minutos, El Diario, and Infobae also gain share. The second half of June does not eliminate the weight of platforms and conversation, but it does return centrality to informational and generalist news outlets.

X.com and YouTube correct after the initial peak

The contrast with the previous analysis is clear. In the first half, X.com had climbed to the first position.  In the second, it drops from 6.90% to 4.56%, a fall of -2.34 p.p.

YouTube also retreats, dropping from 5.24% to 3.27%. This does not mean that video and conversation disappear from Discover; it means something more useful for editorial teams: visibility peaks should not be interpreted as structural changes without observing the subsequent window.

LATAM grows again, but not equally across all domains

The LATAM block improves in the second half of the month: it goes from 6.42% to 7.17%, an increase of +0.75 p.p. The reading is different from the first half, where the block seemed more stable: now there is aggregate growth, but with internal redistribution.

Infobae remains the most visible LATAM domain and improves to 2.66%. On the other hand, Cronista loses share compared to the first half of the month.] The conclusion is not that LATAM rises homogeneously, but that Discover redistributes presence among outlets and markets depending on the agenda and format.

Spain remains strong, but the thematic map is reorganized

By sections, espana remains the category with the highest share, although it drops slightly compared to the first half. The loss of weight for watch accompanies the fall of YouTube, while news about the 2026 Football World Cup alongside articles about sociedad, economia, internacional, and other informational areas gain relative space.

This reinforces an important idea: Discover does not only change by domain, it also changes by content type. Looking solely at news outlets can hide relevant thematic shifts.

What changes compared to the first half of June

The update leaves three clear conclusions:

  1. The X.com peak does not consolidate as monthly leadership. It was a strong signal in the first half, but loses weight in the second.
  2. YouTube corrects alongside the watch category. Video maintains a presence, but no longer pushes the ranking as it did at the start of the month.
  3. Generalist media regain centrality. El Español, El Mundo, El Confidencial, and OKDiario gain share, indicating a more informative second half less dominated by platforms.

June does not confirm a single trend: it shows rotation

The main lesson of the full month is that Google Discover should not be read as a static ranking. The first half favored conversation and video, the second shifted the focus toward generalist outlets and current affairs. For editorial teams, this makes it necessary to work with short windows, compare by weighted position, and separate temporary peaks from sustained changes.

Methodology: June 1–15 is compared against June 16–30.  The share is calculated as the daily average of visibility weighted by position with weight = 1 / log2(position + 1)
